I'm having an issue where I want to design my title master to include the date. But I don't want it on my Slide Master. If I delete the field from my slide, the date field doesn't appear on my Title Master when I create it. The same is true of the page number, although, I can solve that by beginning the page numbering at 0. Any suggestions? Is there a way to create my own editable fields?

You cannot add/create editable fields on the master slides. But for your
situation the solution is easy. On the Slide Master, drag the date box off
the bottom of the slide (so it is there, but not viewable). Same idea for
the page number on the Title slide.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

You should be able to do this (without editable fields <which PowerPoint
does not have>) if your design includes both a Slide Master and Title
Master.

1) View -> Master -> Slide Master
2) If a Title Master doesn't exist: Insert -> New Title Master
3) Select Slide Master thumbnail from list and delete the "Date Area"
placeholder
4) Select Title Master thumbnail from list
5) If "Date Area" does not appear on Title Master: Format -> Master
Layout... check "Date" option and click "OK"
6) Close Master view.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide additional functionality around placeholders and
masters, don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to
Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
