TISCALI POP3 - Please help!!!!

Hi All,

I cannot get my Tiscali e-mail account to work with Outlook 2003 and it's driving me mad!!!

As per Tiscali's instructions. I have set the "incoming" to pop.tiscali.co.uk and the "outgoing" to smtp.tiscali.co.uk

I can receive e-mails OK, I've removed my anti-virus in case there was any firewall problems and also tried it on another PC which has the same problem.

The Send Test E-Mail message fails and if I try to send an e-mail it bounces back with:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Test 3

Sent: 5/27/2006 9:17 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

(e-mail address removed) on 5/27/2006 9:17 PM

503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA
Somebody please help - At the end of my tether with it!!
 
This sounds silly, but did you actually send the test e-mail to '(e-mail address removed)' ?
 
When I click on "Test Account Settings" it fails on send test e-mail message.

"Please verify the e-mail address field"

NIGHTMARE!!! lol
 
Try ticking the "my server requires authentication" box, that should fix it :D
 
Looks like a probem with the mail server.

Speak to your ISP.

It's a problem that only occurs with UNIX/LINUX based servers. ;)

i had trouble getting this working ages ago on my sis's iPaq, i seem to remember something about them having something in place stopping you from sending emails if you didn't have something or other because their servers had been used for spamming
