start afresh but not lose any of my emails, adrerss book,
favorites and drivers?

Thanks!

* Back these up prior to the install.

and drivers?
* If you have devices that Windows 2000 doesn't recognize then have the
drivers downloaded from the hardware manufacturer's web site ahead of time.

* To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or
setup disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows
2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Thanks for the response Dave. Would you please elaborate
on what you mean by backing up my emails, address book and
internet favorites.

How would I do that...? I am used to copyiing files and
folders to back stuff up - but where can I find the
files/folders that represent emails, address book and
internet browser favorites.

Apologize for the dumb question but I am a novice when it
comes to OS's and associated software.

1.) Depends on the mail software. Look for the means to back and or export
these items to file.

2.) You can IE|File|Import and Export, follow the prompts.

Sorry I should have clarified - it is microsoft outlook
and internet explorer. I will pursue those options of
backup and export within those applications.

Appreciate your prompt response and diligence.

For Outlook97/2000/2002/2003 you can File|Import/Export|Export to
file|Personal file(.pst) then backup this file.

all you need to do is send it to a floppy disk in your a:
drive and copy the information and if you need to repair
something 2k gives you that option when installing the OS
dont make it difficult KISS
