First off, you can do really amazing things with it...
Once you get beyond any startup or running issues, you're limited mostly by
your creativity... and skills.
Movie Maker is an entry-level non-linear digital editing tool... with
limited features. As you learn its limits, you can add other software to
your toolbox to go beyond them. There are lots of other freeware, shareware,
and moderately priced software packages that expand the overall capabilities
of your system. You'll need other tools to convert some files to formats
needed by Movie Maker, and to author and burn VCDs, SVCDs and DVDs with your
movies on them. For most users, Movie Maker isn't a stand-alone app.
The knowledge and skills you learn and achieve when using Movie Maker will
be directly applicable to other digital editing software.... the software
learning curve is quick and fun, so you can get right into developing your
video editing skills.
Maybe you'll conclude that Movie Maker with the other tools you collect are
all you need for your video work - probably so if it's for personal or small
business use.... if not, you can move up to mid to high end software and
hardware.
If you stay with Movie Maker or move to higher-end software, enjoy the
learning and the things you can do with it...
