First let me say, I've spent lots of time & money trying to find software
that works best for me... and after all this time, I've found WMM to be the
best! I'm looking forward to the day when I can burn straight to DVD!

In the meantime, the best way for me to get my movie onto DVD is to create
my movie with WMM, send it back to the camcorder, connect my cam to my DVD
recorder(its like a VCR but it records to DVD), then burn it to DVD. I've
found the video & audio quality to be superb this way! Hopefully this will
work for you too! Cheers!

Thanks for the tip. What burner are you referring to. Is it like a Nero or
Pinnacle type software or is it a VCR (??) type of electronics box that
Play/Write DVD's such as Pioneer Electronics equipment.

Can I assume from this tip that Windows Movie Maker has no provision for
taking my MSWMM project and converting it to DVD?
I don't have a camcorder or any external DVD burner (my computer burns
DVDs). What is the solution for me?

John, that assumption is correct, althought I've heard that a future version
will allow us to burn straight to DVD. For your situation, you'll need
additional software. Most people use Sonic's MyDVD. Also there's Ulead's
VideoStudio & MovieFactory, Arcsoft's ShowBiz, a Full version of Nero and
others. Your pc probably came with software to convert your movie to DVD.
For the best audio & video quality, save your movie as .avi (depending on
the lenght of your movie, you will need a lot of hard drive space. I had to
purchase an external hard drive) and import it into one of the DVD authoring
programs I mentioned earlier. Maybe someone can recommend other software
solutions.

Cheers! :o)

That list covered a lot of the more popular ones. There are others as well
such as Ulead has a whole family of authoring programs other than Movie
Factory.
I have a decent list along with links to the author's websites on my website
in the "DVD Programs" section.
I plan to add more info and screenshots at a later date:
