Well, I spent the money and took a look (It cost me around £9.00). This
company Adorage seem to like renaming some standard effects so that at first
look it seems that you are getting something new. There are one or two
novelty effects and transitions I will grant that but, using MovieXone you
can replicate just about all of them and not be limited to the few images
provided. The window jobs and Egypt and the like are what I am referring too

I am not overly impressed with them. I did like the Fog transition and the
Explosion. You can get a much more detailed plug in from AIST.DE where you
can control the particles in the explosion which is highly customisable but
it is a lot of work. The flags again are easily done in MovieXone and in its
big brother MovieDV (Which costs slightly more than this effect package) you
can have an animated fully customisable flag where you control the wind and
oscillations etc.

Overall I would not give it much more than a 4/10 score. I had hoped for
something a lot more customisable instead of some novel but still rigid
transforms

Microsoft doesn't allow the makers of add on transition and effect packages
to make software that includes user settings..... so sets of 'rigid' add on
effects and transitions are what works with Movie Maker.

Yes, other video editing software such as MovieXone, Premiere, Pinnacle
Studio, etc. can give you more options for transitions and effects... but
they are not directly related to those who want to use such transitions and
effects directly in Movie Maker 2.

So there is not much future for Movie Maker effects and transitions
then....such is life.

I am perhaps spoilt by the wealth of superb effects from PIXELAN.....more
than 400 of them and very nice too

In the mean time people you can use the program MovieXone, which is FREE and
if you want to go the full 9 yards...get MovieDV at US $69 MovieDV has not
only got a fully customisable interface it also has eleven video and audio
tracks all of which are again customisable, Both MopvieXone and MovieDV make
full use of the Alpha channel (One use of that is to set the alpha channel
off, or any value between 1 and zero...(smoke effects) for one colour so
that you can overlay one video with another to get what Adorage call a
Window Effect...and there is the next important part...Video NOT still image
overlay. When I can get around to it...I will put some examples up on my
website.

PIXELAN can be reached here www.pixelan.com and MovieDV and MovieXone at
www.aist.de. Pixelan at $59 is more expensive, granted, but I do think they
are more useable simply because they do not have that "Home Movie" Novelty
trick look about them. MovieDV at $69 is quite simply in a totally different
league and is many times more "capable" than Movie Maker., MovieXone is a
cut down version of MovieDV, its free on magazine covers and is also more
advanced than Movie Maker. Both programs require a steeper learning curve
which results from a wealth of options not in Movie Maker

I just realised what you said LOL

Microsoft doesn't allow the makers of add on transition and effect
packages
to make software that includes user settings

I think you mean that they do not make available the means to do it...there
is NOTHING Microsoft can do if some company (however unlikely that might
be) produces a package with user settings.

No, sorry do not accept that. I would like to see ANY agreement that we have
to agree to that says you cannot use a program created by someone else to
supplement the functions in Movie Maker. This type of thing can and has been
done in the past...it requires a lot of patience and does not involve any
reverse engineering of movie maker...therefore there is no copyright
breach...or are you now going to bring forward one of your "antonymous" non
existent buddies to start threatening legal action....something along the
lines of Movie Maker is Network Aware perhaps??? LOL and how are you getting
on with your attempt at proving that MCE 2005 actually does create
DVD's....if you have not yet properly understood it...the process that MCE
2005 uses is exactly the same methodology that would enable someone else to
manipulate Movie Maker in the way I suggested with user options......For
someone who claims to Microsoft to have the knowledge you have, you show
none of it in here....I wonder if Microsoft will ever ask you to prove your
claims....you will be a little bit stuck then won't you???

By The Way, what's you associate status like....still bringing in the money
is it???? I truly hope not...how on earth did you think you were going to
get away with that slight of hand. That was pretty stupid getting another
MVP to make those remarks about the two links...it had papajohns chin
plastered all over it. When will you learn?????

For god sakes man...go and look at the link "HE" provided and then go do
some reading...or would you like me to hold your hand and take you to the
relevant place? MVP's !!! My god, there is a great divide between the MVP's
that come in here and the real ones......

By The Way, the legal definition is PECUNIARY ADVANTAGE...go look that one
up as well while you are at it.

and I should have also said....this is yet another example of how the mvp
papajohn is misusing his position...this time by covert means. It must be
covert if a Most Valued Professional to Microsoft such as your self was also
misled...yes?? No??? which ???

The only effect on the buyer is that, in the process of my working with
Adorage, two things have happened:

I developed sample videos to help people see what the transitions and
effects look like when used in MM2 projects. I'm adding them to my website
as I go.

Adorage lowered the price from $25 to $15....

Yes, I work with Adorage... great people to work with, and wonderful
products... and I look forward to my continued relationship.

I have nothing to explain to John Kelly or hide from anyone else in my
working relationships with Microsoft and the companies who support Movie
Maker users by developing and offering updates and third party software
packages. There are more in the works...
