I am running IE/OE 6 on a Windows 98SE machine and for the most part user
Outlook Express.
I have seen alot of people use the "TinyURL's" which do seem to be very
handy and work well, however is there a way to "decode" these before
clicking ?
I do not mind using them if they are from someone that I know, however I do
not use them from others as I have no idea where they really are about to
take you and I can see a potential for some real abuse.
Any idea's on this ? I like to practice "safe hex" and sure do not want to
end up on certain web sites.
Thanks alot
Tedd

tinyurl links, when clicked, will first take you to a tinyurl.com page where
you can see the URL before you're automatically redirected to it.

snipurl.com links will take you directly to the snipped URL.

PA Bear,
Thanks for that info. Do you know about how long you have in TinyURL until
you go to the end site ? For example if you get to TinyURL and it looks like
its aiming you to some dark wormhole (like AOL or MSNTV..) do you have time
to stop the link by hitting the STOP button on your browser ? Maybe I am
being too cautious, just do not like exploring some of the Internets
suburbs...
Thanks
Tedd

I dunno the default <pause> at tinyurl.com but I'd hafta guess 5 seconds or
so, plenty o' time to STOP or close the window.
