When I download an update file, I have to exit the program and start it again
before it will install. Does anyone else have this problem?

SP,
Its been doing that for me for quite some time now so you're not on your
own. I don't see it as a problem for me. AVG for me, has done an excellent
job so far and the few seconds it takes to do this resart, I'll put up with.

Yes, same for me for quite a while now. It must be some little bug
in the upgrade software -- or maybe AVG has some legitimate reason
for forcing an exit of the program.

Is this the free version? I've not experienced any problem with
updates (apart from their increasing regularity !)

Yes, this happens for me also - on both Windows 98 and WIndows 2000.

Don't know why.

Using free version here. Update still installs automatically for me. Win98.
On rare ocassions (I guess a major program update) AVG will ask to restart
itself.

No problems here either, WinXP.

No problem here on AVG Free version running on Windows 2000

I've had this happen at times but other times the updates install OK. I
just watch to see if AVG updates automatically, otherwise I exit AVG
and than reload. No Matter, updates will install on your next reboot as
long as the download was OK.

One question I have about AVG:
Can you safely delete older updates? I know the faq sez yes, but many
are now so small it is hard to believe they are complete - but only
incremental??
