I keep getting an event at every boot that a service
didn't start because the file couldn't be found. The
service in the event message is called tinakey. I have no
service listed called that.

Did a boot with logging and find that the tinakey.sys
driver was not loaded. I can't find a tinakey.sys file
in /system32/drivers.

Anyone know what this tinakey service is? Could it be a
trojan/virus or something?

I don't get any hits on the web for tinakey hardly.

How do I track down what is trying to start this service?

Try running regedit from the "run" command on your menu. Click on Edit,
Search and search for tinakey.

If you find it, the registry key will likley show the program that is
requesting it.

It is likely that the file was loaded from the registry and the original
application has been deleted from your system.

That is one reason you should attempt to remove programs in the following
order:

Run uninstal from the program directory. If that doesnt work or there is no
uninstall program then use "add remove programs from the control panel. If
that doesn't work or if it is not listed, delete the program directory.

Let me know how you make out.
