..ppt 2007

I have just finished my tenth sing - a - long presentation, there will
eventually be forty seperate song show presentations with approx 12 slides
per show, and it has suddenly occured to me if anyone was to ask me how
long would a particular show run, or maybe a total timing of the ten shows
I wouldn't have a clue, unless I timed each individual show! I know that
each song runs approx two minutes on average, but is there a way that I
could find the total minutes run of each show? ie Is there a drop down
somewhere that I am not seeing or finding? Banging my head for the last hour
looking :-(

Thank you

Thank you Luc,
I have just followed the links and I am so new to all of this that I don't
understand Macros or any kind of code. So, (Bill) I wont use an egg timer
:-) I will use my calculator and time my presentation from the timed
animations. It is so easy to do, and it doesn't really take a lot of time
for my stuff, I am getting idle I suppose. I thought there maybe something.
My slides advance automatically to the end, and are rehearsed times until
last slide of the presentation. I am just inquisitive:-)

Thanks a lot

Bill,
Sorry but have just realised that I will have to use the egg timer after
all. The automatic timings ( I think) don't take into account the
animations, so calculator would be no good. Feel a bit stupid now that
realisation has just set in :-(

Hi MoMo

Have you looked at the code here? http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00413.htm I'm no
VBA-er but these lovely lovely people make it a matter of copy+paste which
even I can manage :-)

If you are unsure of whether it will give the right answer, check it
manually once or twice. My understanding is that automatic transitions that
have been set through the slide trasition taskpane can be 'wrong' as the
slide won't transition before the animations are done. However, if the
timings are added through 'rehearse show' this is not applicable so adding
the slide transition times up will work.

Hi again Lucy
I was reading your reply and thinking out loud I said " Oh, VBA can add up
the timings for me, but I wouldn't know where to paste it ". I hadn't gone
to the link then. My hubbie who actually writes Visual Basic Code said "I
can write the code for you" and show you. Immediately I said "This
powerpoint is not a JOINT venture GO AWAY, I can get the info myself from my
newsgroup.
I went directly to the link and low and behold there was the info on how to
copy/paste the code etc :-) Day started very well. Will try and give it a
go after breakfast, it is almost 8.30am here in the UK and I am pleased.

Thank you

The link down t' the bottom? Yep.
That should be on every page with VBA code on it.
If you find a page where it's missing, let me know.
It won't be missing long. ;-)

Will do
Thank you

Hi Lucy

I really, really tried so very hard but I cannot comprehend this VBA at all.
I copied the code, then got completely lost. I found a "Macros" box but
didn't know what to do with the copied code;-( I went back to read the
links again but got more confused than ever. Sooooooooooooo for the time
being I will stick to what I know as I am still a relative newbie. Thanks
for your help but I am now *beginning to despair* if everyone thinks this
copy/pasting of VBA is so easy. Am I tryimg to run before I can walk or just
stupid? I have been learning this Powerpoint now for three months. Surley I
should be able to do the basics? Mind you everyone is different so perhaps I
am, after all, a slow learner.

Thank you

Me again Lucy. MoMo (Maureen)

Forgot to say I am using .ppt 2007. Didn't give up when I said I would and I
have been *clicking* every where but to no avail. If it is in there (VBA) it
is very well hidden. I even went through some more links and found Bill's
link but that only reffered to .ppt2003 I think. I thought Powerpoint was
mind boggling stuff but this VBA is something else again ! ! !

Yes, it is.

You need to click the Office button then choose PowerPoint Options.
Click Popular on the left then put a check next to "Show Developer tab in Ribbon"
OK your way out of the Options dialog box and click the new Developer tab on the ribbon and you'll see a "Visual Basic" button. That's the feller.

OR

Hold ALT and press F11

Found it. I just don't beleive it ! ! ! Simple when you know how. Good job
Microsoft aren't responsible for hiding the brake pedal on my car :-) I
certainly wouldn't have known F11.
When I get over my exhaustion I may give it a whirl.

Thanks a lot Steve.

Morning MoMo

Sorry I wasn't around to help you out - I'm in Australia (current time
difference 8 & 1/2 hours - current weather difference zero if what I've seen
on the news is any indication...). Where in the UK are you? I'm originally
from Leicester :-)

Anyway, sorry to have caused so much frustration - next time I'll remember
to post the alt+f11 bit. And you don't have to know vba to produce fabby
powerpoint, so keep up the good work and keep the husband away from the
project :-) I remember a news clipping on the news quiz years ago from the
small ads "For sale: Encyclopaedia Britannica - no longer needed as husband
knows everything". lol

G'day Lucy
I live half way between Liverpool and Preston. Have relatives in OZ have
been out there a few times but can't stand the heat :-) Need swimming
lessons to live in the UK!
I like your sense of humour about Britannica! No problems now with my mild
understaning of VBA. Haven't as yet tried it. May give it a go today.
Thanks anyway for posting back, it is appreciated.
