Timestamp format in database

Hi,
I have a problem with the Timestamp that is recorded in my database
when a user submits a form. The form's data is recorded in the
database no problem, but the format of the Timestamp field is not
correct for my region. Our company is in Australia where the date
format is dd/mm/yyyy and the data is being recorded in the database as
mm/dd/yyyy. is there any way to change the recorded format?
