Hi folks,
I cannot log on to the timesonline site.
http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,15849,00.html
(It takes ages to load, then I get a completely blank page with
'Done'
in the bottom left corner (next to a Internet Explorer icon).

I have no custom hosts file to my knowledge. (I have had the computer from
new).

I've emptied my Temporary Internet Files inc. all offline content and
deleted cookies.

travel.timesonline.co.uk isn't listed in the Restricted sites in I.E. The
boxes are empty - no Restricted sites listed at all.

I've added http://traveltimes.co.uk to the Trusted sites (unchecking the
box entitled "Require server verification (https:) for all sites on this
zone").

I've just found that I can't access
http://www.penguin.co.uk/?id=email&link=greet_pencouk or
http://www/jetix.co.uk either - same
problem - starts to Open page, then "connecting to site, then "Cannot find
server".

As you have probably guessed, the above sites are quite innocuous.

However, I can access most other sites.

After about 20-30 seconds, I still get the 'Done' sign
bottom right of screen but the screen is blank. Also, the Microsoft flag
(top right) is still active. It stays this way until I close the
browser. (I am on Blueyonder broadband).
Is there any possibility something like that Active X, or Java settings
may need changing? If so, I wouldn't know how to change them.
I also use Spyware Doctor and eTrust antivirus which run in the
background. (I've tried accessing the site with Spyware Doctor turned
off but it makes no difference).

Any suggestions as to how I can fix the problem? (In simple terms - for a
computer dinosaur!)
(Windows XP SP2, IE6 Athlon 3200, 1.5Gb RAM )

TIA

Hi Zoomer :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Log on as Administrator:

Control Panel> IE Options>Advanced Tab>Browsing section>Check disable script
debugging>UnCheck "Display a notification about every script
error">Apply>OK out.

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer - Windows XP Service
Pack 2:
http://www.winxptutor.com/lmzunlock.htm

and.....

You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and check to see if Macromedia Flash
Player and Macromedia Shockwave Player is listed. If so, uninstall and
them, then reinstall the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player 8
here: (WARNING: Unless you really want the Yahoo toolbar (not recommended)
then be sure that you UNcheck the box next to the "Yahoo toolbar" before
downloading and installing)
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
See if that helps.

Also, if you have SpywareBlaster...

Go to Tools on the left panel>Flash Killer
Make sure the box next to Disable Macromedia Flash is UNchecked

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have tried all the below recommendations without success.
I think my next course of action is to contact Evesham Computers (the makers
of this infernal machine) and see if they can help.
Thanks to all.
