Mr. Frazzlebottom
I have seen two occasions now where Win2k throws up a dialog box which
halts processes until a user clicks a button to continue. I would like
to have Win2k have a timeout and then select the default.
The setting:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon
Determines how long the system waits for a user response before it uses
a default value, but only for User Profile/Logon purposes.
What I would like is to have the "Application Popup" event id 26 have
such a timeout.
This is the cause of my wanting this:
I have a Win2k as a file server (well, Win2k with network shares), and
when there is a printer error the "Application Popup" event id 26 with
the message "There was an error.. Cancel Job?" pops up TO THE WIN2K
ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT! I.e. all printing stops until I log on to the
server as Administrator and click OK.
This is totally unacceptable behavior.
Perhaps also I should be investigating the Print Spooler setting?
(I am still investigating an will respond if I find anything else out.)
