How can I create a timeline in Powerpoint 2000? I need to create a timeline for a school project, where I can enter in the date and breif tidbits of information on a certain topic. Please help me and instruct me in how to create such a timeline. Thanks!!

If this is a one-time task, just create a horizontal line, put in
appropriately spaced vertical ticks and add text boxes with dates /
events.

Or, use multiple short horizontal lines and use animation to introduce
one time period at a time. I did this once a few years ago (the
horizontal segment came in from the left to 'meet' an upward-pointing
arrow that came in from the bottom). The client liked the effect so
much that it has been reused in other presentations with appropriate
changes to the text boxes.

Otherwise, you might want to look at some Gantt chart type software.
Search google for more or visit my web site for XL-based
examples/software.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking for (no
timeline diagramming or drawing tools).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
