Timecode and more than one tape

I am wondering if i will get problems if i accuire clips from more than one tape into one project. Two clips can potentially have the same time code and I have read elsewhere that this can cause problems. How can I work around or deal with this

Also: Is it common to rec through the tape first to get the timecode onto the tape

Hi there,

The time codes do not have any effect on the project. There only use
within Movie Maker is to display there relative position within the original
footage.

Re timecode and recording first. It is best to have continuous timecode.
This can be achieved by stripping the tape first, ie recording it from start
to finish with lens cap on and a blank plug in the mic socket so as not to
record noise. This will obviously add to the wear of the camcorder, but
works well if capturing to timecode is important.
Secondly, you could ensure you always record longer then you need at the
last shot by two/three seconds, or even after the shot record the floor for
a few seconds. Then when reviewing the shot taken you can stop on the
recorded floor and start recording from there and this will give you
continuous timecode. Less wear on cam but more work when recording!!
