Sounds like your onboard battery is dead. Apparently this is a new computer
with a recent bios (purchased within the last 18 months)? If the battery
goes dead, the computer will default to a date that is set in the bios by
the manufacturer. Normally this date begins with Jan. 1 of the year the
bios was created. A new battery is cheap and easy to replace but if the
battery is dead after only a year or so something else is probably wrong.
If the computer is still under warranty you should contact the maker and
explain the problem. Might send a new battery for your replacement or call
for other repairs.
A second cause may be if the computer is attached to a domain network and
the server has the wrong date in it. The workstation will normally obtain
the server's time when logging onto the server.
