I am new to internet, and have recently purchased new
computer. For the past two days my McAfee virus scan has
been bombarded by a host trying to access my computer.
Visual trace produces time.windows.com with a domain of
windows.com. I continue to deny access untill I can find
out what this is? What it does, Etc.

Trying to access your computer, or your computer trying
to access time.windows.com?

XP has a service that tries to auto-synchronize your
system's clock to keep it up-to-date, time.windows.com is
one of the hosts it tries to contact to do this.

You can turn this off by double-clicking your clock,
clicking the tab for Internet time, and unchecking the
box.

Go to Control Panel > Date and Time > Internet Time (tab)

Periodically, Windows XP will access the internet in order
that your computer maintains the correct time.
