Time Required to run Create Table Query

I can run a select query and get results to my screen in
about 5 seconds, yet when I run the very same query as a
create table query it takes about 10 minutes. I'm running
the database from my C drive. Does anyone know why?

Thanks

The time difference may be related to the way Access
treats a select query vs a make table. For select
queries, it only returns enough of the result set's rows
to fill the screen, plus some rows. As you scroll down
the results, you will likely see hesitation as Access
goes back to the datasource to stay ahead.

A make table query will process on the rows in a non-
commited status. Then, ask if you want to add all the
rows. The commit if you say yes.

You might see the 10 minutes for the select query if,
once the intial results comes back, you click on the "go
to last record" button.

Hope this helps.
