I manually adjusted the time on my PDC emulator this
morning and now I've got a big problem. The DCs refuse to
communicate because of a time difference. I set the time
on the PDC emulator back to within 1 sec, but no joy. I
had to shut it down so my users could work and all was
well for a while, but now the other DCs are reporting that
their time is out of sync. So now I'm down to one DC and
have everything else shut down. Any ideas? Please help!

You can use the following to set "net time" on them to look at the pdc, but
they should want to do that normally by default.

Hello Skidmore,

your PDC-Emulator is "Master of the Time":

All Clients/Member Servers get their time from "their" DC
The DCs get the Time of the PDC-Emulator or their Domain
The PDC-Emulators get the time of the Domain Emultor of the Parent Domain
The PDC-Emulator of the Rootdomain is supposed to get a valid external
timesource.

I assume your time infrastructure was working well before you set the time on
the PDC Emulator manually. What happend was that the machines started, one
after another, to set the new time. But this will take some time depending on
when they set the time the last time.

So two possibilities - wait and don't keep changing the time on the PDC-
Emulator - or walk to every machine and run the "net time \\yourpdcemulator
/set" command to adjust the time manually to the same time as your pdcemulator.
After this is done, everything will work again.

Gruesse - Sincerely,

Ulf B. Simon-Weidner
