Time & Date on tool bar?

Hi there! I'm fairly new to XP, and find that unlike previous Windows
versions, I can only see the time in the bottom right-hand corner of the tool
bar - not the date. I can hover over the time to see the date, but can't
make it so that they are one on top of the other. It's a little thing, I
know, but it would be lovely if I could have both! Can I?

Right click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and
click on "Lock the Taskbar" so that the check mark is removed.
Position your mouse pointer at the top of the Taskbar so that
it turns into a double headed arrow.
Hold the left mouse button down and drag the Taskbar up until
the time and date are displayed.

Right click the taskbar,
un-check Lock the taskbar,
move your mouse over the bars upper edge until you see a double arrow, then
drag the bar upward to expand it.
You should see the date.
 
It does as you say but it also significantly enlarges the whole Taskbar
to the detriment of the main window! So far as I can see you cannot
enlarge horizontally or do you know otherwise?

That's the only way I know of to get Windows to show the day
and date in the taskbar.

There are probably third party programs available that will do
what you want without raising the taskbar. You could probably
run a google search and come up with some or post a question to
this newsgroup looking for recommendations.
