hello,

I am doing some new-year tidying up. I want to uninstall old programs I dont
use. I look in control panel/uninstall and see programs that I dont
recognise and which appear never to have been used (according to the 'last
used on' column) Is it safe to uninstall these ?

Thanks

Since you didn't tell us what those programs are and we can't see your
computer from here, we can't tell you if it's safe to uninstall them!

A good thing to do when confronted with this sort of situation is to Google
the name of the program in question. This will tell you what the program is
for and whether it is something necessary and/or something you will want.

The "last used" entry isn't reliable. Google each program to find out
what it is before proceeding lest you remove something you might
really need.

You are asking us whether to uninstall programs, but you haven't told
us the names of the programs you are asking about.

Please do one or both of the following:

1. Tell us the names of the programs in question.

2. Google the names of the programs in question.

Ken...you left off #3

3. Live Search the names of the programs in question!

I won't speak for Ken, but I wouldn't suggest your #3 above. Google is far
superior to Live Search.

I have some things such as Foxit Reader (PDF reader) that I use regularly.
Its "last used on" column is blank. So be careful. You could uninstall
something you're using everyday. You should Google the unknown programs to
find out what they are.
