Do you think the TI4200 will support resolution of 1680 * 1050 (16:10)?

"Supported Resolutions

640x480 8/16/32bit @ 150Hz
800x600 8/16/32bit @ 150Hz
1024x768 8/16/32bit @ 120Hz
1152x864 8/16/32bit @ 120Hz
1280x1024 8/16/32bit @ 100Hz
1600x1200 8/16/32bit @ 85Hz
1920x1200 8/16/32bit @ 75Hz
2048x1536 8/16/32bit @ 60Hz"

And in the list of cards here, virtually everything here
has a max resolution greater than 1680 x 1050.

One issue will be the setup of a custom resolution for the
monitor (I wouldn't expect that res to be standard, so this
info is just in case). This document is for the 84.12 Forceware
driver, and while I expect that package would load with your card,
I'm no expert. Start reading here on PDF page 145, on how to set up
a custom resolution. (10MB download)

There is probably other info on the Nvidia FTP site, in case
you want to regress to earlier driver/release info.

The TI4200 is mentioned in a bug fix for 81.98, so support is
still pretty recent.

This is the 81.98 version of the Forceware doc (Dec 20,2005) - page 144:

So the answer is YES and it is safe for me to buy this LCD without buying a
new display card?

From the data below, I'd say the answer is NO. Both the horizontal and
vertical resolutions must be the exact values you are looking for, i.e.,
1680 and 1050, and that combination is not listed. However, check nVidia's
website for the latest driver for the Ti4200. 1680x1050 may now be included.

<top-posting for continuity, I can't be bothered fixing every noob's
quoting>

There's no reason why the ti4200 wouldn't do this resolution, mine lists
2048 x 1536 as it's maximum resolution (and doesn't include 1680 x 1050).
However, I'm not using the latest drivers and I haven't tried a custom
setting.

The information linked to below seems to suggest that it is indeed possible
with a download or two from nVidia. I suggest you download the drivers/info
and try to set up that resolution now, pre-purchase.

No, you can set custom resolutions... just arbitrarily pick
a resolution and you can set it with the semi-modern
Forceware drivers, though it will have to be added through
Display Properites and there are limits to the increments
IE- you couldn't set 1281 x 1025, but you could set 1290 x
1040, or of course 1680 x 1050.

That's analog though, with DVI it will most likely sync
automagically.

Just don't expect to do much 3D gaming with a GF4 @ 1680 x
1050, it's not up to the task.
