Thwart automatic form posts?

In the past couple of weeks, every day, some &^%#& has been submitting dozens
of completed "contact us" forms from one of my Web sites, loaded with links
to counterfeit drugs and god knows what else. I assume it's another spammer
trick. Is there an add on/fix (such as requiring the poster to type-in the
letters shown on a graphic, as I've seen on many sites) or am I doomed to
delete a ton of these every day? Using FP 2003

The CAPTCHA (type-in graphic) is what worked for me to snuff
it. I just made a static image and did not have any problems
with it. I don't think any of the FP form handlers can
validate it, I was using a custom script

Hmmmm ... I'm not skilled enough to write a script ... but couldn't I just
ADD a form field and set the value to "must equal" (or equivalent) to
whatever charcters I put in the graphic?

Please enter the number eight in the field ---->

But why would the form field have accepted "Tramadol" since it's set to
accept only "LGBT?"

BTW: have you seen protectwebform.com. I'm still trying to figure out how
to use it and it appears that it may require a site that runs php, which I
don't. But the concept is neat.

Problem may be emanating from the fact that your email address is
easily accessable in the html of the page - easily picked up by human,
and I imagine probably the same by robots however they work~ I havn't a
clue! so the thing is to remove your email address from within the
html, there are a few scripts out there for this purpose - PHP would
be an obvious one ot start with - try a search like~ php email forms,
or some such thing, if you want an easy easy easy to use program to
enable you to make forms, that also hide your email address - you can't
go wrong with "form creator" - I tHinK that's the name, just take a
look at www.coffeecup.com you'll see it there, real effective and just
too easy to use! I got it a few months back, and making up forms is a
breeze now!
and before anyone jumps on the spam box and yells at me! No, I have
zero connection with them! other than being a customer.

If the browser has JavaScript turned off then your validation will not work
at all. The only answer to this is server side validation, which implies
writing (or finding) your own form handler. This will also enable you to
remove your email address from the HTML.

I havent tried this, but if any of my forms become a problem here is
my plan (using strictly FrontPage forms)

I will add a drop down menu with two choices

The first choice will say "select the choice below"
The second choice will say "select this choice"

Then I will right click the drop down menu and select the options
"data required" and "disallow first choce"

I bet that will work, with no scripting required.

I bet that will work, with no scripting required.

Form field validation adds JavaScript to the page - preview in browser to
see the added code.
If JavaScript is turned off, there is no validation.

The only way to thwart the spamming is to use a combination of client-side
and server-side validation.

BTW, I am currently working thru "Cascading Style Sheets - Separating
Content from Presentation", which activity caused me to look up your
Layer Laws when I ran across reference to them in a NG
