Thumbnails and Download Time

I may be a bit out of date since I am still using FrontPage 2000, but I have
a website that I am trying to get ready to unveil. I am always aware of the
download time in the lower right-hand corner and one thing I have noticed is
that the more thumbnails I add, the slower the download time will be. Part
of each page will be a photo gallery, so I will always be adding to it. The
two "channels" I have been working on right now, one has 10 thumbnails that I
would like to start out with and the download time is already 20 seconds; and
the other one has 9 and the download time is already 17 seconds. I opened
them in my photo editing program and each one is only 1k in size. How
accurate is the download timer? When they say that people aren't going to
want to wait more than 30 seconds, I'm going to be in trouble. Is there a
way around it? Though I have more in the program than I have uploaded, here
is the URL for the prototype to get an idea of what my site will be like:

Carole,

I wouldn't worry about the speed of those thumbnails. I would caution you
to check your links, many are still referencing your F drive on this page:
