Thumbnail Names Disappeared

The names of my folders in thumbnail and filmstrip views fail to display.
For the first several tiers below My Documents the folder names in these
views show without problem, but they're gone from there on down the tree.
All folder names show all down the tree in all other views (tiles, icons,
list and details). Why is this? What to do?

Before you click on the folder with the pictures hold down the shift key,
then click on the folder. This will toggle the names.

Works like a charm. Many thanks.

Whoops. Maybe I spoke to soon. Although the toggle fix does work with any
given folder, it doesn't seem to reset the subfolders below. And on reboot,
a reset folder sometimes reverts to the no-name thumbnail view. I've got a
lot of folders, and it's difficult to navigate down tree from a display in
thumbnail view of 10 or 15 unlabelled folders (even though, with the toggle
fix, I can reset them one by one). Is there some overall fix to thumbnail
view in My Documents?

Open the window concerned, switch to a different view. Then hold down
Shift while switching back to thumbnails and the names will reappear -
the shift toggles their display
