My older pc was connecting and getting downloads in the
high dialup speeds of the 40kbps plus. Now with a new
whiz bang pc and winXP I was initially only seeing 28.8.
My ISP added some initialization strings and now it shows
40's too. BUT, getting the speed of downloading and
getting information off the internet is excruciatingly
SLOW?
Any idea about the XP system, or how to arrange something
to speed up the throughput on my pc?
Free beer to anyone with the answer............ !
Thank you,
Sid

It's not the speed of the machine, but the speed of the
internet connection.Try DSL or CABLE for faster
connections. You are doing good with dialup at 40kbps.

Hello,Thank You for the beer offer.
Try a external modem,"Sterling",or another inexpensive
modem. One without a optimizing feature.I use both internal
and external due to a poor telephone connection. The external
modem gives me a higher connection and download rate.
Take Care.
