Kevin

I am using Vista now on my new laptop. I wish I had some of the XP things on
it. Here is what I miss:

- Ability to break up toolbars and have them in different places.

- Up arrow (to go one directory up) when I am in a folder so I don't have do
use the keyboard command but can use a mouse click.

- Right Click/Open With... so I can force a certain kind of document (i.e. a
jpg file) to open in an art program like photoshop or Illustrator rather
than opening in the default software (Windows Photo Gallery).

I easily could have missed these things - could someone let me know if I
did?
Thanks,
Kevin

I never used this personally... however, I suppose if you did use this and
got used to another configuration, it would be very annoying.
- Up arrow (to go one directory up) when I am in a folder so I don't have
do use the keyboard command but can use a mouse click.

Up arrow has been replaced with the breadcrumb bar - you can click on any
element between the -> arrows to go up to that specific location.

Also, you can hit backspace and it will take you up one level.
- Right Click/Open With... so I can force a certain kind of document (i.e.
a jpg file) to open in an art program like photoshop or Illustrator rather
than opening in the default software (Windows Photo Gallery).

This still works like in XP. Of course, Open With will only be displayed if
you have installed more than one application that uses that specific file
extension.

Kevin,

Can't speak to #1.

#2: What? The blue back arrow doesn't suffice? (Well... it's blue on my
box...)

#3: Ah... you're looking for a SendTo TweakUI type thing, eh? Yeah, I love
that TweakUI thing but don't think there's one available for Vista yet...
could be wrong, but if I'm right... shouldn't be too far down the road.

For the second one, you can click directly on the bread crumb to get to one
level up.

The open with is still available in Vista. Just have your shift pressed
while right clicking on the file.

Clicking the bread crumb is not the same thing. In order to click the bread
crumb, you have to read and interpret the bread crumb. Also, the position
where you must click and the number of levels on the bread crumb changes
depending on content, further requiring the user read, consider, and
interpret the bread crumb.

The Up button, on the other hand, always does the same thing, always means
the same thing, and is always at the same place. It never changes,
regardless of context with the exception of Desktop, where this is no more
Up to go to.

I don't have to hold the shift key to get Open with to appear on the
context menu.
