I have a spreadsheet that started behaving in an unusual manner. Today when
I opened the file instead of one icon appearing on the taskbar displaying the
file name, three icons appeared, all displaying the same file name. Other
spreadsheet files when opened do not behave in the same manner. I'm running
Excel 2007, though the particular file is in 2003 format. My OS is Vista
Ultimate. Has anybody had a similar experience and know how to fix the
problem?

Do you see a :1, :2 and :3 after the filenames?

If so, you have 3 windows open to the same file. Use the close icon X
in the top right corner of the file window (not the Excel window) to
close two of them, and then save the file - the next time you open it
you should only see one window.

Hope this helps.

Pete,

That was the case (:1, :2, :3). Thanks for the solution. Any idea on how I
inadvertently created the situation?

Window>New Window a couple of times will create the three windows.
