Hello Group.

I have three gmail invites for the first three emails I receive. I need your
first and second names, and a valid email address.

Regards.

I have ten invites myself. Anyone can e-mail me for an invite.

Gmail is rapidly becoming a less-than-exclusive club isn't it, Karen? I
sent my first dozen invites out to select friends, but these days I'm just
firing them out in all directions, just trying to get rid of them. I
guess I don't have as many friends as Google assumes I should- I
currently have twenty invites gathering dust.

Regards,
Ian.

Why ? Do you work for Google ? Or do they just give you a commission
for promoting their product ?

Why not just put the invites in your trash can ?

I wonder whether "shills" would be a good term to cover the endless
queue of people who want to promote Google email here ?

In any case for those of us who come to this newsgroup to find
freeware, and not to promote Google, would there be a chance of the
Google advertisers here putting something in their header to make it
easier to filter out their posts ?

I suggest something like (GM).

This Google graffiti gets rather tiresome after the first few hundred
posts.

It is tiresome, but I'm not optimistic about the chances of people
adopting a tag. If you're not interested in Gmail-related freeware,
filtering on the string 'gmail' in the Subject should get rid of them.
If you do want to see posts about such freeware, a regex like
gmail.*?invit should get rid of most of the invitation threads.

What are you on about? I don't work for Google, and I strongly doubt that
the OP or Karen do, either. We're not selling anything. Would you like a
Gmail invite, John? No charge, honest! Just give me the word and I'll
send one.

What are you on about?

My guess is that John is about the fact that most people come here to
find freeware, and not to promote Google.

Gmail isn't freeware. It is another webmail operation with hidden costs.

But then, I doubt the Google toolbar is freeware also...

And I wonder about the Google cookie after you 'set prefs'.

Google is still my preferred search engine, but I don't trust them like
I used to. They are worth a lot of money and they get a lot of free
advertising. I don't see why they need additional free advertising here.

John,

I'm sorry I posted the free invites here. I won't post them here again :)
