Loren

Don't know if this will help. I had some stubborn files
as well one time. You are running XP. Click on start
button, go to control panel then click on performance and
maintenance. Click on system link, then system restore
tab. Check box to disable restore and run scan again.
This will also delete your restore points so be sure to
enable system restore after scanning. Good Luck

Hi David

Try Start your pc in safe mode(Tapping F8 on reboot then
choose safe mode)

ISEARCH TOOLBAR

First open Add/Remove programs screen and remove any of
these if found:

Searchit - toolbar
YuupSearch Toolbar
411Ferret Toolbar
autoSearch
IE Toolbar
masterbarHallmedia.net
Toolbar - My toolbar
Searchit - toolbar

**Note these are the different variants so if found reply
which ones are found and i will give the removal for
them**

Theres a small amount of registry work needed

Go to start the run and type

regedit

Check for this value and delete if found:

goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then click the + next to it,then
go to SOFTWARE and again click the + next to it then to
MICROSOFT and the + and so on to you get to the Uninstall
folder then click the + to open it

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Uninstall\{A55581DC-2CDB-4089-8878-71A080B22342}.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software Then this entry in that
folder:

iSearch

Open a DOS command prompt window (from Start->Programs-
Accessories) and enter the following commands

**Note you can copy and paste this lines into the command
prompt**

First copy & paste this line:

cd "%WinDir%\System"

Press Enter
Then copy and paste in this line

regsvr32 /u toolbar.dll

And This One

regsvr32 /u mfiltis.dll

Now restart your pc and find these files in the
windows/system 32 folder (called just 'System' on Windows
95/98/Me) and delete them

**You can search for these if you have problems finding
them but on the search page go to tools on the top bar
then folder options and go to the view page, put a check
in the 'show hidden files and folders' option and right
below it uncheck the 'Hide extensions for known file
types'**

then back to search and choose all files and folders and
to look in My Computer then delete these:

toolbar.dll
version.txt
mfiltis.dll
desktop.exe

Thats the isearch bar gone but you also need to check
your hosts file as this toolbar can try block you getting
access to certain sites (Mainly security and AntiSpy
related sites by changing your hosts file)

The Hosts file can be found in Windows folder on Windows
95/98/Me, or in System32\drivers\etc in the Windows
folder on Winddows NT/2000/XP/2003

Again you can search for it by typing hosts on the search
screen and open it with notepad to check the entries

All that should be there if you havent added any is
examples and then the 127.0.0.1 LocalHosts entry but if
this has been changed you will see the security and
antispy sites entered with numbers from 127.0.0.2 upwards
if they are there delete them all and just leave the
127.0.0.1 LocalHosts in place and the examples above it.

Another easier way if you are not sure about hosts files
is to download this to restore the Microsofts default
host file:

Download the Hoster from here:

http://members.aol.com/toadbee/hoster.zip

Press 'Restore Original Hosts' and press 'OK'
Exit Program.

Also empty your temp folders

Delete Temp Internet files :

Open a internet browser window, click Tools then Internet
Options.
Click on the Delete Cookies and the Delete Files buttons,
then click OK and close the browser window.

Next: Delete Windows Temporary Files - (start, run then
type %temp% delete all files you can in this folder
The Windows temporary directory (usually located at
C:\windows\temp).

That should solve your problems david,I know its alot of
work but if you are saying these removers cannot delete
it then going for it manually might be the best move.Take
Andre'a advise and use the removers he recommends as they
are some of the best programs available.Theres alot of
other possible registry entries and files to look for but
didnt want to make it any harder than it already is.But
if you need the rest i can post them.Automatic removers
should be your first try though as genrally using regedit
can be hard work unless you know about it and feel
confident using it.
