Linda...

We just installed MSN Messenger 6.1. It has two new
features that take us to a website to download the beta
versions of Three Degrees "Groups..." and "Music Mix.." -
so it looks like something that is gonna be, but isn't
quite yet.... (??) I don't think I fully understand what
they are, how they work, etc. and if I should give 3
degrees a try.. Has anyone used this? Or is using it?

Thank you for your response, Jonathan. We subscribe to MSN-
8, and am not sure if Three Degrees is for MSN Members
that fall under a certain criteria or what... After doing
more research about it today, saw that it was primarily
designed for those under the age of 24 (socializing, etc.)

And it isn't very clear if ipv6 update is required (which
we have never installed from Windows Updates). Secure Peer
to Peer? Sounds scary...I could not find much feed back
about this anywhere, not even in the Three Degrees Group
at MSN.

The primary computer used to access MSN-8 has an Intel Pro
100/VM, and when we first installed MSN 6 to keep it from
nagging us, it froze the computer. This newsgroup, just by
reading it, helped tremendously. And I might add, the
Intel patch you had posted sometime ago helped us get back
to 100% again with our MS instant messengers. Our router
needed firmware too - it's an MN-100 Wired Base Station
and I couldn't have fixed the problem w/o reading the
newsgroups.

After reading about ipv6, I find the info is unclear as to
whether it is actually used in Three Degrees, or if we
would have to install IPv6 because of the MN-100, and with
problems we had with MN-100/Intel Pro 100, my intuition is
telling me it could get messy and to leave it alone. So I
will agree with you that it is best left alone for now.

They took away "Browsing the Web Together". :( (grandkids
aren't too happy about that)

They also added "Photo Swap" (online slideshow). It is
beta too and it has problems when sending control back and
forth. But it is a nice concept that will probably be
ironed out by the time MSN Premium is released.

Guess I'll meander over to the MSN Messenger newsgroups
and see what I can find out there since most of my
concerns deal with MSN-8, MSN Messenger and not Windows
Messenger.

Greetings Linda,

You can see what threedegrees does and download it here:

I'll leave my personal comments aside, but it's
definitely something that you don't need.
