Hi
Have three dbs at diff locations, not linked.
would like to sync to my laptop and have this 1 as master.
my pda has the sort of sync function I aspire to.
is this poss with access.
i.e.: [name],[address] fields can vary between dbs.
db1, tbl1 might have a full first name, say John Smith.
db2, tbl1 might have I Smith, I need the John Smith value.
Main relationship is text field,4,required,indexed no dups, say 1234,1235.
need to append all new records as well as any data alterations.
the differing data is my main problem as the length varies field to field.
hope someone will assist a novice.

I think you have a real mess that will take a fair amount of manual editing.
Normally you try to prepare for this type of issue during the design phase
of a project. This issue will be compounded if you have records in tables
related to your main tables.

Do you have multiple related tables in each db? If so, how are they related?

Ooops think I replied to Duane first, not the group. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply Duane
I think you have confirmed what I feared.
db1 & db2 are inherited. db3 is mine.
Need to re-assess the project.
Have picked up and used a few tips from the group so far,
Lpad function, various date and string procedures, useful links etc etc.
Certainly very encouraging to a novice.
Will not hesitate to post in the future after some manual editing.
