This page cannot be displayed window

Can anyone offer help for this?
Ever since the installation of XP SP2, access to IE6 and
e-mail retrieval have been sporadic at best. On IE6 the
big issue is that 50 percent of the time I get "this page
cannot be displayed" window. Hitting refresh brings up
the proper page.
Also, half the time the wrong "My MSN" home page comes
up. Again, hitting refresh brings up the correct page.
Efforts to retrieve e-mail frequently brings up the error
page. Second attmpts are successful.

Settings are correct on the internet options page. Do I
have a settings problem or a broadband modem problem?

Spyware? Adware? Clear out temp, temporary internet, history, and recent
folders.

Do you have a network running? How do you connect to the internet - dialup?
cable? DSL? ???

Clean out (delete contents of) all those folders I mentioned. Then turn off
your computer. Turn off power to your modem. Wait a couple of minutes.
Turn the modem power on. Wait a couple of minutes. Turn on computer.

Be sure to empty the recycle when you boot back up - it may(?) be full.
