I am not sure how I am supposed to set up my
Microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail. How do I set up my account so that I
can send and receive e-mails through it. I currently have two e-mails
through Live.com and Hotmail.com, but I am unsure on how I should go about
setting up this e-mail. If anyone could help it would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks.

My name is Tom Paul and I have the same problem. My new e-mail is
(e-mail address removed)

Live.com Settings:

Server names and ports:
POP3 = pop3.live.com Port = 995
SMTP = smtp.live.com Port = 587

Checkboxes you need to check include:

Server Tab: "My server requires authentication" (Click "Settings" button
also and fill in "Log on Using" email address - *** but do NOT check the
checkboxes there . . . .)

Advanced Tab: BOTH outgoing and incoming - "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)"

General Tab (if desired but generally recommended): "Include this account
when receiving mail or
synchronizing"

Should work - if you get errors post the entire error message (cut-n-paste)
for further assistance.

Windows Mail doesn't support HTTP mail, which for a long time was the
only allowed access method for free Hotmail accounts. Fortunately,
that problem is now history because in February, Microsoft enabled POP
access for free Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts.
Follow the settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Although it accepts the newer Live.com addresses, Windows Mail's
account setup wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail and MSN addresses.
To get around that, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is complete,
go back and correct your email address.
