This forums pages need to be reformatted to give full handicapped
accessibility. I have to allow Pop-ups to make this site work. I DON'T WANT,
OR LIKE POP-UPS THE USE OF THEM SHOULD BE BANNED PERIOD!!! They are not safe,
and unnecessary. This forums pages need to be reformatted to eliminate the
need for them. Also it needs to be reformatted to allow for text entry with
text that is at least one point size larger for those who have difficulty
reading the text in the text entry box. You could get an idea as to how you
could make your message boards work / be more simple to use. Check out the
BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) message boards
site for some good simple to use formatting. The URL is in <> brackets: <
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ > Then just make the text in the text entry
box at least one point size larger to make the text easier read / edit. You
should make the Navigation bar at the left side of the page to be able to be
hidden / shown as by the users selection. A button on the page could make
this hide / show option happen. Thank You.

Hi Lightsttn1,

Have you ever given any thought to using a NNTP(Network News Transfer
Protocol) News Reader, such as Microsoft Outlook Express? You might find
you'll have much greater flexibility than using a Web based News Reader such
as Internet Explorer.

Information on how to set up an account to view these News Groups with a
NNTP News Reader can be found at the following Microsoft web site:

I use NNTP with Thunderbird to access this group. Surely there is an
NNTP client (Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, etc.) that will
support better accessibility.

NNTP, also known as USENET, is older than the Internet - Web forums are
cheap imitations :-) of USENET.

Also, here is some "netiquette" information regarding USENET postings:

Trim the quotes to what you're replying to, cutting all unnecessary
stuff. Leave your reply *after* the trimmed part. This message is an
example of such "netiquette".

By trimming and replying in-line, you will be certain that your answers
address the questions properly.

What Pop-ups are you refering to? If you are refering to the opening of a
new window in order to post a response, as I am doing now, that is not a
generally considered a pop up and has a value. If this is what you are
refering to what you "WANT, OR LIKE" is irrelevant. A "Pop up" is something
that "generally" happens when first come to a page before clicking on
anything. I have both IEs default pop up blocker and the Yahoo
Companion/toolbar pop up blocker turned on and have no difficulty using this
group. What specific problem are you having with the need for pop ups.

As far as the left hand navigation bar is concerned, simply click on the
"Printer-Friendly Version" icon on the bottom of the page and a page will
open with just the current section, in this case "Discussions in General"
showing.

As far as the font is concerned you have several options.
1. Click "View"->Text Size
2. Control Key, scroll mouse button up for smaller text, down for larger text.
3. Alt "v", "x", "l"
4. Put the text control icon on the IE main button bar.

As someone whose nickname at work, given to myself, is the "blindman", I
take offense at people who feel the need to be accommodated without even
seeing what they can do for themselves.

Please investigate your options before telling us what we need to do.

Respectfully,

?:-\

And in regard to your question today in another thread, which perhaps
precipitated this thread:

:

Why is this message area not opened in a normal page showing the
toolbars from the MSIExplore? I can't access my Google spell-check utility
from this page to see if all spelling is correct. I must copy / paste to a
word processor to spell-check...

ANSWER: In the "message area" window you refer to above, right click on the
area outside the typing area and choose "Open Frame in N_ew Window" or hit
the "n" and a new window will open with all your toolbars where they should
be, Yahoo, google, MSIE.

Hope this helps

Hi Robin. I have a very good Pop-up blocker. It's from an older version of
the Yahoo Toolbar. It allows me to see only the Pop-ups I want to see. The
others don't give this capability to include the normal blocker options. But
I don't want or like the use of Pop-ups, and think they should be banned as
they aren't safe. Better companies are now eliminating the Pop-ups from their
sites due to user pressure. As to my comments about how the site should be
rebuilt to allow for full accessability to the handicapped. I gave a website
as an example. I don't like the fact that this page doesn't open in a normal
MSIE page so I can access my spell checker either. I have to do double work
just to make a post. Thanks for Your Time.

Hi Donald. I like your idea, but it makes things toooo complicated. I don't
want to have to use any extra programs, or applets to do what a reformatted
page will do. The BOINC pages that I referenced in my earlier post are simple
to use for all except that the text in some areas needs to be made larger so
those with sight problems can read them without a problem. Here is the URL
again in <> brackets: <
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ > Check it out. You'll have to sign in to
make any posts to the site. It's still a very simple to use site. Even the
E-mail they use to notify of new posts is easier to use. If I can't click the
words to go to the page. I can even right-Click the link in their E-mail to
get the URL information. The E-mails for these MSoft pages do not easily give
the URL. You have to look at the whole E-mail page using the "View
Source"selection after right-clicking on the E-mail. Then search for the
link. Tooooo Complicated.
