Does Print Screen key no longer do a screen capture to the clipboard?

Print Screen works the same as it did in previous versions of Windows. It
copies an image of the desktop to the clipboard. What type of keyboard do
you have and what version of the software for that keyboard did you install?

Well, the upgrade hosed a lot of stuff for me, so I'll keep on keeping on
with trying to solve all the problems. Thanks. At least if I know it's
supposed to be there I won't give up. LOL

MS Wireless Natural Keyboard, and the latest software I downloaded from
their site for Vista.

No doubt another foible. I remember the tricks and stunts I had to get to
get clipbrd.exe in the start. Wonder if THAT will be the same? Probably not.
And that Friends Near You thingy, I guess thats Messenger by another name.
No doubt we'll all have to learn another MS OS from the ground up when all I
really want to do is get on with things and be productive.

Nope, an issue with the keyboard itself, not Vista. See response to A.

Don't you have to press another button as well on those keyboards, to make
the function keys work, like you do on a laptop (Fn)?

Ah yes. Good old MS. The way keyboards have worked for years just isn't
good enough. That keyboard has an F Lock key that changes the behavior of
the keys on the top row of the keyboard, including PrtScn. With F Lock on,
the PrtScn key does insert rather than the traditional capture an image of
the desktop and copy it to the clipboard. Before hitting PrtScn, hit the F
Lock key just over to the right of PrtScn to turn F Lock off. Then PrtScn
will work as you expect, though the rest of the function keys will now
behave in a non-standard way.

If all this annoys you and you would like the function keys to work in the
standard way and PrtScn to work in the standard way as well, without having
to remember to toggle F Lock, see the following page for information that
should help - http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html.

I don't see that unless you mean Paint?

Type 'snipping' in the new search box on the Start Menu. If it doesn't
appear, you need to go to Add/Remove Windows Components and add the TabetPC
components, as the Snipping Tool seems to be part of that.

You're close. The snipping tool is two lines below paint with
Enterprise x64. Have a great day.

In Vista 32bit, it gets installed with TabletPC components, IIRC, but I may
be wrong.

It was installed by default in every version of the beta I installed where
it was available. Maybe its an "Ultimate" feature or is installed by
default only with Ultimate.

Snipping tool is included with all standard versions of Vista except Home
Basic. And according to the product guide, for those versions where it is
included it is installed by default. Synapse is also correct, it is part of
the Tablet PC components.

I found the snipping tool after activating the PC Tablet function --
doint that threw up a notice that I had to reboot (which is normal
enough) "because I had taken a new licence" (or words to that effect --
I didn't write it down) which is new jargon to me <g>

I use the snipping tool alot, and I wish you could print directly from the
utility. Am i missing something?
