Hi,

I have recently built an Athlon 64- 3000 system, using a retail Athlon with
a three year warranty. I noticed on the warranty card it told me to fill in
the serial number of the processor in the box for safekeeping - but I can't
find the serial number, unless it's on the chip. Is the serial number on
the chip ? I didn't actually check. If so, then I'll worry about it if it
fails and then get the number off it. ( Im not going to pull the PC apart
for a serial number! )

Thanks
Michael.

I always pull the SN off the CPU and keep it in a file in a Util directory.
Helps for later needing to know. Alternately, it may be on a sticker on
the side of the box it came in; much simpler than pulling and cleaning
the CPU.
