Hello,

I was just given a new Thermaltake Venus 7+ CPU Cooler. I would like
to use it for my AMD Athlon 3000+, sitting on a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
motherboard. My question is for anyone experienced with this cooler or
Thermaltake products. The cooler comes with a plastic mounting bracket
(I'm guessing optional for use?). This bracket looks just like the
bracket already on my motherboard with the black plastic mounting
clips that the cooler's clips grab onto. I am guessing this optional
bracket does not need to be used or maybe on another type of
motherboard. Anyone's help or advise would be appreciated. I have
added a hyperlink to the specs of the cooler.

Thank you,

Here is the only review I could find.

If on the other hand you don't mind spending extra and you have a larger
tolerance for noise the Aero 7+ is definitely one of the better
price/performance heatsinks on the market. The results speak for themselves.
If you are more concerned about temperatures and overclocks then the Aero 7+
would be the wiser decision but keep in mind that the increase in
performance does come with the cost of an increase in noise.

The Aero 7+ has found a place in my main computer. The adjustable fan speed
means I can have it on full speed in situations when the noise won't annoy
me such as playing games or listening to music. On the other hand I can tone
it down when doing desktop work. The WhisperRock has replaced the standard
AMD heatsink in the families system. After many complaints about the noise
generated by the default 2100+ AMD heatsink the family finally stopped their
nagging towards me. Their computer is now quiet.

erm, the "Venus" (Thermaltake) and "Aero" (Coolermaster) part is just
as important as the "7+" part no? :pp

From what I understand, some Gigabyte boards may use a different
bracket (the screw holes or something on the board are in different
position or something) so if you can't fit the Venus 7+ properly onto
your board, then it's likely you need to replace the default bracket
with the provided one.
