There is no buffer in Fax?

Hi,
I have Windows XP. It seems there is no way to receive faxes without the
computer being on or, if there is, I can't find it. I like the Windows Fax
program and prefer it to all other faxes in my business mostly because it can
keep the faxes in memory. But why can't I receive with the PC powered down?
Thanks
Catt

Think about it for a minute (wrong forum to start.) How would an incoming
fax find a machine that is powered off? What indication would the incoming
fax have that your machine actually exists? None. Why would you expect a
machine that is powered off to be able to perform anything?

Wrong forum? My browser says "Outlook Fax" so can you give me the right one
or a name?.
When I wrote "powered down" I meant in the standby mode. So I didn't make it
clear.
So why can't I receive faxes in the standby mode?

If you are talking about the Windows XP fax, then
microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax is the correct group. It is not a part
of Outlook but Windows.

In standby mode, your machine's main memory is powered to retain it's
contents and allow for a quick restart, but the rest of the machine,
including the Fax modem, is powered off.
