There is a bar on the left side of my screen!!!

I posted last night about that "silly thing." Sorry...guess I should have been more specific. This blue bar on the left of my screen just popped up one day and now I can't make it go away. It is not the tool bar...that is still at the bottom. I have tried the msconfig and viewed the startup items and nothing there to indicate this thing. It is aprox 3" inches wide and goes all the way to the top of the screen. I have ran spybot but nothing came up. Hope someone can help!

It's called common tasks. Type regsvr32 /i shell32 in the RUN box and restart. If this does not help, download the fix from MVP Doug Knox's site: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_commtask_desktop.htm
