All of the themes and visual styles and such downloaded from this site
are wrapped with an installer. As of yesterday I have discovered that
they are forcing the installation of Accoona toolbar when you run the
installer. If you deselect the checkbox the installer will not
continue. You can block the toolbar installer from completing
successfully by keeping it from connecting to the internet or so it
seems. MAS blocked the start-page change successfully too. Still. I
sent the guy at the site an email about this and said that it really
cannot be tolerated. I am considering on boycotting the site like I
have Paypal and such. It was different when it was an option. Like
people could opt-in. Basically like how Messenger Plus has done it. I
am waiting for a response from the site to see what they have to say.
That is if they respond.

Response from website:

The toolbar is companion product, same as if you downloaded adobe
reader.
Try to do an install and not get Yahoo's toolbar. It is a common
practice
for a free product on the internet. It also has its' own uninstaller, so
again, just uninstall after you get the product if you don't want it.

Or, sign up and become a member. $10.00 and you can get all the
unwrapped
downloads you want.

There are options, so don't judge us without knowing all the facts.

Ummm... Yea. Any installer that I have seen that has a "companion
product" has the option of skipping its install. Meaning it isn't a
requirement to get at what you want. Even Messenger Plus! didn't do
this.

Can anyone tell me a good reason why someone might force a toolbar
installation on someone?

BIG MONEY.........

You can make user to go to certain sites.

So that they will get paid by advertisers according to the amount hits they
get to their website.
