Go to control panel and click the system icon. In system properties click
the advanced tab and then click the settings button on the performance
(visual effects, processor scheduling etc) In the performance window on the
visdual effects tab enable the 'custom' option by clicking on the radio
button with your mouse. Now click the 'apply' button followed by ok.
Now go back to control panel and click on Display icon. See if the windows
xp theme is there. I had a similar problem and this procedure cured it. In
my case i had the xp theme and then it changed to classic.
