I've had an on-going problem with spammers using my Email
account and/or address - I'm not sure of the former. I've
two firewalls, Zone Alarm and Symantec, Antivirus, and
spyware software programs - my sytem is secure. Could it
be possible spammers/hackers are using my Email address -
and in fact have not accessed my Email account? I
regularly change my password, update all my software
including Windows which I thnk eliminates the problem for
a while, but - only to return.

I regularly scan my system on the Symantec website which
reports that my system is secure. My ISP -Verizon is
useless - they advising "someone may be tapping my line"
and that I should change my Email addres. I would
appreciate any thoughts - particularly if it is possible
only my address is being used and rthat my account,
password, etc. is secure. Thank you.

My guess is that they probably are using your email address. There are lots of worms
out there that harvest email addresses from the address book of the computer they
infect and if your email address is in that address book, then it is being used to
fool other people into believing that you sent them infected email. Email addresses
are also being harvested from newsgroups etc. For a while I was getting hundreds of
returned emails a day claiming to be from me. --- Steve

I never used to get spam at my address until I submitted my resume to a
particular job advert, now I seem to be getting about 10 a day. I'm assuming
the two are connected, but perhaps it came from some other avenue.
