I am IT professional but on this XP laptop, I cannot find
any wireless network connections tab or way to add or
configure any wireless connections. Any ideas? Is the XP
install customizable to the point where XP could be
installed without these options? How do I get them?

Greetings Ed

Click Start, Run, and type "services.msc". Open services and scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration Service, Start the service and set it to automatic

Eric,
Thanks, but believe it or not the wireless zero
configuration service is running and is set to automatic.
I am totally stumped. I am actually typing this on an XP
Pro laptop using a Belkin Wireless network. I have the XP
Home laptop right next to me and can't figure out how to
get the wireless connections tab to come up.

This is a good one. Pleaseeeeee Help!

I've had to deal with the same problem and haven't been able to figure it out yet. What brand and model of wireless NIC are you using?

You could try stopping the WZC service and restart it in
the services.msc. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling
the wireless network card. Then reboot and let XP detect
the network card and supply the drivers if needed.
