The Windows Media Player will not automatically launch when Music CD's inserted

Just noticed over time that my "Windows Media Player"
running under WIN XP Pro has stopped automatically playing
when I insert a music CD. I have went into the property
settings on the CD/DVD/RW combo drive on my Dell laptop
and set the settings for "music CD" to automatically
launch "Windows Media Player" when inserted, but I still
fail to get to automatically play. I also have made
certain that all available updates have been downloaded
and installed through "MS Windows Update" site.
