I downloaded the 4.1 Catalyst drivers and they installed. So did the
Control Panel.

BUT ---

SiSoft Sandra gives this info:

I don't have any 3D, etc. And Opengl is not installed.

Is there a switch or something to get the 3D going?

This is with a Radeon 9200.

I thought I had installed the latest Directx ---9, but it shows 8.2.

When I try to upgrade Directx, it says I have the latest version.

Start/Run/ type DXDIAG

Check the file versions there and run the tests. Sandra is not always
reliable.

Did this:

It shows version 8.2 (4.09.00.0902)

Most file dates: 8/23/2001, 8/29/2002, 9/16/2002

Also:

DirectDraw Acceleration Not available

Direct 3D Accl "

AGP Texture Acc. "

I installed Directx 9.0b

Ok

Still no 3D, etc.

But now you have a shot at setting things right. Update to the latest agp
drivers for your motherboard and uninstall and reinstall the Cats. I suspect
the failure to have DX9 intsalled and working properly caused your initial
headaches.

Don't mean to be negative but you're probably screwed. I've never seen one
system where DX went "toast" that didn't require basically redoing system
"clean" to insure things are as they should be.

The basic problem to my mind is MS's idiocy in basically ignoring and/or
refusing to provide some type of DirectX uninstaller. It's simply
inexcusable bordering on reprehensible that this is the case as they
certainly could and should have already!

DirectX buster.exe, but your right...I never like messing with the foundation of my house same holds true of windows....better to
do the whole thing over than to be plagued with weird anomalies.

There is a difference between the Directx *software* version, and the
Directx version on the card. The Radeon 9200 is a Directx 8 card, so
that's probably the information it's giving you.

:
: Now Directx reports as 9.0b

Yes. I guess it was reporting the software version.
