Recently I noticed that when I browse away from my home page, the url in the
address bar doesn't change from that of my home page. I can be viewing a
google page, but the url shown is for my home page. I can't seem to find
anything in preferences or settings to change or explain this. Can anyone
help?

Are you clicking on links? Could be those links are within a frame, so
the address bar still shows the URL for the parent frame which the child
frame shows the new web page. Right-click on the link, copy it, and
then paste it in the address bar to circumvent that sites use of frames.
Could be you also should pick a home page that doesn't use frames, or
doesn't leave you stuck in a parent frame when you click on links.
