The Update Process is a COMPLETE JOKE

The entire update process is a complete JOKE on WD Beta 2. Besides these
everything seems honky dory.

My question is - How do I completely remove any trace what so ever of
Windows Defender Beta 2 so I can try and reinstall this and get it working
the way it is obviously supposed to.

I saw on of the regular posters to this newsgroup post the registry key to
delete remnants of Defender several weeks ago, but now I cannot find it. I
uninstalled it a while back and am not sure I have found all the remnants in
my registry either. I wish they would post that information again. It might
improve the chances for a good reinstall in the future.

Hello Cam,

I try these steps:

1.-
Log on as an administrator.

2.-
D/L and install Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803

3.-
Windows Installer Cleanup

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Use it to remove both Windows Defender... items listed.

4.-
http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm

Look for the "broom" Clean up, also Tune Up..

5.-
Ccleaner -

http://forum.ccleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=1504

Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during install.

CCleaner quick tour:

http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp

Open Ccleaner and start the cleaning, press "Windows" "Aplications" and "Run
Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and then press scan for issues, Repair
any fºund.

6.-
Rebot in Safe-Mode

7.-
Repeat step # 5

8.-
Rebot

9.-
Done

I hope this post is helpful.

Engel I have followed your instructions and now I have WD working correctly,
thanks very much for your help.

But I am also now having a very annoying problem, everytime I reboot a popup
comes up titled Windows Installer with "Preparing to install..." message

I took a screenshot:

Can you please tell me how to stop this happening?

Hi Cam,

I try twice to unistall and install WD, but I don't get your message.
So, try this, go to Add/Rem programas, highlight WD, on the left side, click
in support information, and click in repair, and follow the prompts.

Let us know how it works ºut.
