Hi,

I'm running XP SP2 and I can't launch the Terminal Services service.
Anytime I start it, it immediately stops with a message:

"The terminal services service on local computer started and then stopped.
Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example,
the Performance logs and alerts services.".

I checked with other computers and my config
([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\TermService]) looks
ok.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
Thanks for your time.

Exact which XP? Terminal Services are usually only available in XP
Pro. XP Home only has the Terminal Services client (used to connect
to a different Terminal Services "server.')

I do not know if the has any possiblity on your system but what type
of video card and which version of the video card drivers?

On my personal home XP Pro, my nVidia based video card, when using the
WHQL 180.48 version of the driver "broke" Remote Desktop completely.
No work-around offered. Then last week, newer 181.20 versions of the
drivers came and these allow Remote Desktop to work.

John John ,Thank you for reply!

Hi guys,

I had a similar problem on a Windows 2003 server R2, I cannot connect
to it by remote desktop, I tried to check a lot of staff (registry,
dll replaces, sfc /scannow, reinstall the terminal service) but
nothing solved the problem.
After the "sfc /scannow" I finally can start the service from
services.msc, but I still cannot connect to the server.
aahhhhhhh It's driving me crazy. :-(

Any help will be appreciated.

Angelo
