Hi All,

The Task Manager on my friend PC (Win2000) has an abnormal look. There is no
menu (File, Option, View ...), no tabs (application, process, performance).
There are only Task List and End Task, Switch to, New Task buttons.

I copy Taskmgr.exe from my PC but it doesn't help. That means Taskmgr.exe is
not a cause.

Also the other abnormal things is both MS Outlook and Outlook Express cannot
communicate with the server.
There is the acctual connection but the "request string" sent to server is
not the correct one. I know that because I tried "telnet emailsever.com
110". I typed the request string such as "USER emailname" then hit Enter I
got the right response. The message I receive from both Outlook as if I just
hit ENTER instead of "USER emailname".

What could be the problem? How can I fix that?

Ben,

Your Task Manager is in small footprint mode. Place the cursor anywhere in the
borders of the TM window (where there's no text), and double-click. TM should
return to normal.

Cheers,

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
